Yugioh Play Mat 2012 Airbrushed Createx on blank flexible play mat The greatest part of this project was realizing how far I'd come since the last time I airbrushed. Needless to say, this was all solidified in the planning stage. So much frisket paper!! The worst part of this project- the photography. Since I lack room and I cannot simply stand the piece up, even lying down it had plenty of floppy bits to crop out of the picture in the end, which I realize now make it LOOK as if the left hand side has less space left in it than the right hand side. It was a fun surface to work on, though. I'll gladly take another one on, for the right amount of money.
Looks awesome! I have been asked to do these but pass mainly because i am afraid of opening the card players door. Marvel and other sets keep me so busy that to do these would probably make me drowned.
Thanks Bianca! Just remember, I used frisket and a lot of masking tape in this one, and the cost of making it alone weren't worth it, unless the gamer is so fanatical that they're willing to spend upwards of $500 for it. Otherwise, it's a waste of your time and labor. Just the labor on this one set me back a couple of WEEKS in labor.
Thanks! That's the point!! It really took some research to do this piece, as the images really are limited to the images on the cards. As far as "custom" mats are concerned, I see a lot of mats that can be ordered with some Photoshop collage of the company's artwork. I also saw a guy on Youtube take a piece of art, do some contrast thing in Photoshop, and sent the photoshop piece to a printer to make a stencil. After that, it was one, two, three with a can of black spray paint. That ain't me, either! But this is a more expensive process when you think time, materials and labor.
